Bubble Gum Orchestra’s Michael Laine Hildebrandt Releases Reimagined Version of Dennis Wilson’s “Forever”

Michael Laine Hildebrandt, the creative force and primary songwriter behind Bubble Gum Orchestra, today releases his new recording of “Forever,” the beloved classic originally written by Dennis Wilson and Gregg Jakobson for The Beach Boys’ 1970 album Sunflower. Known for his melodic, pop-infused approach that blends classic rock influences with fresh production, Hildebrandt delivers a respectful and warmly updated take on the track. The original stands as one of Dennis Wilson’s most poignant contributions—featuring his distinctive, soulful vocal delivery, heartfelt lyrics of enduring love, and the gentle, harmonious arrangement that has made it a fan favorite for decades. Hildebrandt’s version maintains the song’s intimate emotional core while incorporating Bubble Gum Orchestra’s signature style: polished production, subtle pop textures, and layered harmonies that enhance the timeless melody without overshadowing its understated beauty. The result is a faithful yet refreshed interpretation that bridges the original’s soft psychedelia with a brighter, contemporary feel. “Forever” has long held a special place in the hearts of Beach Boys enthusiasts, particularly for its glimpse into Dennis Wilson’s vulnerable songwriting. Hildebrandt’s rendition honors that legacy, offering longtime fans a new way to experience the song while introducing it to new listeners.
